Anna Benson's Box
This is a photo of Phillip Crandall comfortably deep inside Anna Benson’s box. Anna Benson is the wife of former Mets pitcher Kris Benson and a former FHM cover star. Phillip Crandall is the husband-to-be of Christa Ryan and a former FHM staffer. Phillip, having had no historical connection to the Mets, wins by default. —Sam

Spot The Phil
Red noses? Check. Same, old green stinky-ass Puma zip-up jacket? Check. Love the guy.

Hey, Burt
Here’s Phil and Burt. Burt was the donkey that lived on the farm where Beth and I had our wedding. Old Burt was a friendly old soul and was something like 30 years old. He’d lived for 30 years! Two days after this photo was taken, Burt died. Thanks a lot, Phil. I’ve gone ahead and notified the ASPCA about your wedding this weekend. Have fun.—Tommy

Phil & Fashion
Everyone has their own style but Phillip has his own look. This look usually starts with a pair of Chuck Taylors, works it’s way up to some blue jeans (w/ green belt), followed by a t-shirt (sometimes Weezer, other times Grover, other times something else entirely). There’s also an orange Florida Gators “belly” jersey that is known as an atrocity. It is not.
But my...

Old Timers
Chicago, 2005: The bar was closed when we first stumbled across it. But oh, the wisdom that poured forth inside these humble doors merely an hour later. At 11 a.m.

A little advice
Next time you find a shirtless man at your workstation, ask him if he just shaved his pubes all over your keyboard. If the answer’s no, you’re a winner.

F**k You, Ocean!
This photo was taken at a Seaside Heights, NJ, bar—Bamboo, most likely. You will see haggard drunkenness. You will also see Phil flipping off the photographer.
I would see his birds in action again at 6am the following morning, when he and Kritz, after staying up all night, decided it best to jump on my bed, cock their heads to the adjecent window and bellow at the cool morning breeze,...

A Story from CLC
The fact that I knew the “Revenge of the Nerds” song word for word endeared me to Scott Gramling and the FHM crowd. On the 7 Train to a Mets game for my first meeting with the group (and eating a different food against a different FHMer every inning) we bonded by our love for the 1984 cinematic classic. It is not too highfalutin to suggest that each man has both Stan Gable and Louis Skolnick...

Sexy Photo Face
Phil and I were born mere hours apart in September of 1980. Approximately 22 years later, we discovered this Virgo connection and it contributed to a bond formed during many late nights in the FHM office, epic joint birthday parties, and trips to Boo Boo bar.
It was only then that I realized the celestial miracle that occurred as the hands on that clock moved forward after I entered the world...

Skins
So, there I was with Phil and Andy from Revenge of the Nerds. We were partying pretty hard with our friends at FHM in some dive karaoke bar. Phil suggested we crank up the awesome by ripping our shirts off Henry Rollins-style. Andy and I thought that sounded like a top idea, so we went skins.
The reason I love this historical document so much is that it raises so many questions. Why does Phil...

Phil-FC vs. Randi-FC
When we learned that the Giants would be playing the Bears at Giants Stadium (RIP) during the 2004 season, Phil and I knew we had to be there. Together.
After working up the nerve to buy tickets from a scalper, we sat through an awesome/miserable game. Take a guess who won.
If only the camera could have captured the always-polite Giants fans tearing into our beloved Phil for his eBay-bought...

The End of an Era
This is our final group portrait as the FHM staff. I like it because of the angles Phil’s legs are at. I think they’re either broken or Phil is actually a muppet. —Adam

Chicken or The Phil?
This was from a trip to CES with me and Gruber, when we had a layover in Charlotte, I think. Phil got an order of roast chicken, which is a weird choice for a BBQ place. He brought it on the plane with us, to the delight and stink of all other passengers.

Pootie Tang
When Phil came back to New York after graduation, he didn’t have a place to stay, so I subletted him my apartment in Brooklyn, which I’d never actually stayed in because I was essentially living with my girlfriend. Hence, I’d never bothered to have the cable or internet set up. He kept insisting that he didn’t need TV, but I have no idea what he did to pass the time at...
